Who writes our content
Guides are written or reviewed by Gilbert Melgar, Founder, SuburbsFinder, who invests in Australian property. Read his profile. Where we use AI tools to help draft or edit, a person checks every fact, figure and example before anything is published.
How we research
- Data first. Market figures come from established sources such as Cotality (formerly CoreLogic), the ABS, the RBA and state revenue offices, or from SuburbsFinder data. We name the source and the date next to the figure.
- Worked examples are calculated, not estimated. We run every example through the same formulas as our calculator, which are published on our methodology page.
- Rules that vary by state, such as land tax or tenancy law, are checked against the relevant government source.
Independence
Rental Yield Calculator is owned by the team behind SuburbsFinder. We mention SuburbsFinder where it is genuinely useful, and we say so plainly. We do not accept payment to include or rank products, suburbs or companies in our guides.
Updates
- Benchmarks are reviewed every quarter.
- Every guide shows the date it was last updated.
- Guides with time-sensitive figures, such as what is a good rental yield, pull benchmarks directly from our quarterly data so they stay current.
Corrections
If you find an error, contact us. We aim to review reports within five business days. Material corrections are made promptly and the updated date changes.
